Poor Kandi

The ex-fiance of Kandi Burruss -- who stars on "Real Housewives of Atlanta" -- died tonight after a brawl erupted at a club in Atlanta.
Cops say A.J. Jewell suffered severe head injuries during the fight at Body Tap and was rushed to Piedmont Hospital, where he later died ... this according to myfoxatlanta.com.
Cops currently have no suspects in custody.
UPDATE -- Atlanta police spokesman James Polite says Fredrick Richardson has been arrested and charged with voluntary manslaughter in the death of Ashley "A.J." Jewell. Richardson was hospitalized after the alleged fight and will be taken into custody once he is released.
So sad; I think she's (by far) the most sane of them all. Thanks to all of you early birds who emailed me with the news.

Kandi is genuinely lovely, and genuinely talented. Her presence on the show throws into high relief how unskilled and lazy and nasty the rest of the RHOA cast are. This is appalling.
I was just going to email this to you (I just heard the news). How sad. I like Kandi as well, she seems to have her head on straight and her feet on the ground. My heart goes out to her and those kids.
If she had married him, would she have inherited his obligations to his six kids? Any family lawyers out there?
I am assuming that Kandi's Mama is under investigation for putting a hit out on Kandi's ex-fiance.
I've read that he did a lot of club promoting so he might have been there just for work.
I get the feeling that Kandi has had a lot of tragedy in her life. Very sad. And really awful for all his children.

How horrible for all involved, she is the one housewife that has her head on right, she is very positive, and a genuine person, not a personality, to have this happen to her is a awful tragedy.

wow, where has my head been? working, that's what. 2 jobs leave me little time for anything else, but i WORK near that place (body tap), and i didn't hear anything about it. it's a strip club that he was part owner of. that's why he was there. sheesh.
i really like her. as i've posted before, she's a real atlanta girl. i am sorry for her loss.

How sad. It will be weird watching the show now knowing those days were numbered...
When I heard this yesterday, I was shocked. Kandi has really grown on me this season (even though the season is a bit too long and becoming a yaaaawn fest).
Kandi actually seems normal, makes her own money, and has talent. My heart goes out to her and to A.J.’s children.
Lately there seem to be a lot of “beat to death” type deaths. What is wrong with people? When will we stop beating each other up to the point of death? So sad.

Agree. Especially since none (except Kandi) has anything to do but fritter away the days, hating one another.
Can one of you whose "heart goes out to Kandi" please explain to me why? He was an EX. Am I the only one who has an EX who I wish was "accidently killed" in a fight at a strip club? Maybe y'all want him to suffer more and get a STD from one of the strippers. Yes she posted her obligatory statement saying how devastated she is, but really, you know she is thinking "could not have happened to better dirty dog then him."

It's a sad thing. It's sad that it would happen to anyone, anywhere. He was someone's child and I feel bad for those who loved him.
I like Kandi, she's my favorite of any housewife, on any show. She's the only one who has any sense about her. I hope someday she finds someone as special as she is.
