In Defense of Rachel Zoe, Part II

The New York Daily News printed a rumor-mongering paragraph that Rachel Zoe's statement on her show that she is a triple Virgo means that she couldn't have possibly been born in 1971. Perez picked up on this and went to town about Rachel being a big fat liar, fraud, pox on humanity, etc.
If she is lying about her age, then George Washington University is in on the ruse because a GWU publication lists her graduation year as 1993, which would be consistent with an age of 37. Perez looks to have posted an old yearbook photo of Rachel which could confirm her age, but of course, he just posts the picture without any comment about about what year and what grade.
I am reluctant to become Rachel Zoe's crazy-eyed superfan/watchdog, but I feel compelled to defend a fellow sun-damaged 37 year old. SUNSCREEN WAS NOT WIDELY AVAILABLE WHEN WE WERE YOUNG, OKAY?! We have wrinkles! We are AWARE. Back the fuck off, NY Daily News and Perez!
In other news, The Real Housewives of Atlanta premieres tonight. I'm going to give it a shot. A very half-hearted, one-hand-on-the-remote shot. What about you?

no, I saw the preview and if anything is a POX ON HUMANITY, this show is definitely IT!!

I can't get on board with the RHOA. I haven't the energy.
Althought the preview where the woman says, "If I die today at least I will die in Dior" makes me laugh.
I guess that they were scraping the bottom of the barrel when they dug up this group of -skanks- er I mean housewives willing to have their dirty laundry aired on "reality" television. All I know is that they do not represent the women/housewives of Atlanta that I know.

So, I do love the Zoe & I too am going to attempt to watch the RHOA, mostly because I live in ATL & need to stay true, although I'm not sure if I will identify with any of these women...

Yes, she could be 37. I dont see why on earth she would try to hide her age in the age we live in where technology rules and anyone can be a PI if they know how to google. If she would put on 30 libbys those wrinkles would fill out, am I right or am I right?
I love Rachel Zoe and I know I am going to stand alone,but I guessed her to be around 40-42. I didn't know how old she was until I read SGM's blog, so when I read 37 I was a little shocked. Then I thought...she is very thin, so I think she looks older because of it. Not slamming on her, just surprised. I think she is great.

You have just alerted me to the fact that I went to college WITH Rachel Zoe. Holy. Insanity.
I graduated from George Washington University in 95, so for two years Rachel and I must have been two ships passing in the night; I'd see her in the quad, she'd run by me while jogging around the Mall;She'd be hanging at some bar with her too cool for school friends, I'd get arrested for using a fake ID while trying to get in (oops..sorry! I digress...).
That just so made my day.
As for RHOA, I'm going to buck the crowd and say that I t-o-t-a-l-l-y loved it. Now true confessions: I'm much more into the RHONYC scene than I am the Orange County scene, so maybe its an E. Coast vs. W. Coast thang? But I thought these bias were shockingly entertaining, and I've already season passed on tivo.
Puhhhhhhhleeeeeeeze! Enough of the snooze fest that is Rachel Zoe! I can't take it anymore!
I am very excited to catch the new season of the "Housewives", however. Will be waiting to see your take...
I feel like I have to watch RHOA simply to be better able to launch a counter defense for my city's reputation.
It looked simultaneously bland and foreign to me. If not for some shots of the city skyline, it could be Anyburb, USA.
I watched RHOA for the comedy. Simply put, I know elite AfAm women and these aren't part of the true elite. It's definitely nouveau.
